Storyteller:

How about a story, kids?

孩子們，要不要聽故事呢？

Kids:

Yeah!

好啊！

Storyteller:

This story is called "Caillou Is Scared of Dogs".

這個故事叫做「卡由怕狗」。

Caillou:

I'm gonna build the biggest castle ever.

我要蓋一座有始以來最大的城堡。完成。

Caillou:

Done.

完成。

Dog:

(Barking)

(吠叫)

Storyteller:

Caillou was scared. The dog sounded angry.

卡由很害怕，那隻狗聽起來很生氣。

Caillou:

Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!

媽咪！媽咪！媽咪！

Mommy:

Caillou, what's the matter?

卡由，怎麼了？

Caillou:

That doggy scared me.

那隻小狗狗嚇到我了。

Storyteller:

The next day, Caillou was looking forward to going to his grandma's while Mommy did some shopping. But Caillou and his mommy didn't know that Grandma was looking after her neighbor's puppy for the day.

隔天，卡由很期待在媽咪買菜的時候到奶奶家玩。但是卡由和他的媽咪並不曉得奶奶那天剛好在替鄰居照顧他們家的小狗。

Grandma:

I have a special friend staying with me. Would you like to meet him?

有一位特別的朋友和我在一起，你想要認識他嗎？

Caillou:

Yes, please.

好啊。

Grandma:

Caillou. Don't worry, Caillou. That's my special friend. I really think he'd like to meet you.

卡由，別擔心，卡由。那是我特別的朋友。我真的覺得他很樂意見見你。

Caillou:

No.

不要。

Grandma:

But Caillou, he's only a little puppy. Why don't you just come and see? I promise he won't hurt you.

但是卡由，他只不過是一隻小狗狗。怎麼不過來看看呢？我保證他不會傷害你的。

Caillou:

Well, okay.

好吧。

Grandma:

See, Caillou? He's only a little puppy. And he's very friendly.

看吧，卡由！他只是一隻小狗狗，而且他非常地友善。

Caillou:

Yes, Grandma.

好，奶奶。

Grandma:

Well, if you're scared, why don't we shut the door, so he can't get out? Okay?

那麼，如果你害怕的話，我們就把門關上，他就不會跑出來了，好嗎？

Caillou:

Okay.

好。

Storyteller:

Caillou was still a bit nervous, even though he knew the puppy was safely in the kitchen.

卡由仍然有點緊張，儘管他知道小狗狗在廚房很安全。

Grandma:

Oh, honey, it's okay. Hey. I have an idea. Let's read a book about dogs.

喔，親愛的，沒關係的。嘿，我有個主意，我們來讀一本關於狗的書。

Storyteller:

Caillou was enjoying reading about dogs with Grandma. And he was beginning to be curious about that little puppy in the kitchen.

卡由喜歡和奶奶一起閱讀關於狗的書，並且漸漸開始對廚房裡的小狗狗感到好奇了。

Caillou:

He's barking, Grandma.

他在吠叫，奶奶。

Grandma:

We'd better go see what he wants, don't you think?

我們最好去看看他想要什麼，你覺得呢？

Caillou:

Maybe he's hungry.

也許他餓了。

Grandma:

Who's a good boy then? Are you hungry? Here's a treat. You like that, don't you?

誰是好孩子呀？你餓了嗎？這裡有好吃的。你很喜歡，對吧？

Storyteller:

Caillou was still a bit nervous. But when he heard his grandma, he decided he really wanted to see the little puppy again.

卡由還是有點緊張，但當他聽到奶奶的聲音，他確定他真的很想要再去看小狗狗一眼。

Caillou:

(Giggling)

(咯咯笑)

Grandma:

What's so funny, Caillou?

什麼事這麼好笑啊，卡由？

Caillou:

He looks like one of Mommy's slippers.

他看起來好像媽咪的一隻拖鞋。

Grandma:

See, Caillou? He wants to be your friend. He's wagging his tail. It means he's happy to see you. If you hold out your hand, he'll say hello.

看吧，卡由，他想當你的朋友。他在搖尾巴呢，意思是他很高興見到你。如果你伸出手來，你會向你打招呼唷。

Caillou:

That tickles.

好癢喔。

Grandma:

I think you've made a new friend, Caillou.

我想你交到一位新朋友嘍，卡由。

Caillou:

Hi, doggie.

你好，小狗兒。

Storyteller:

What do you know? The puppy wasn't scary at all, but friendly and fuzzy and fun.

事事難料啊！小狗狗一點兒也不可怕，而是友善，毛茸茸的，又有趣。

Caillou:

Get it, boy.

接住，孩子。

Caillou:

Good boy. Catch.

好孩子。接。

Grandma:

Shhh, look.

噓，妳看。

Caillou:

Look, Mommy. I like doggies now.

妳看，媽咪，我現在喜歡小狗狗了。
